Another reason is that almost everyone had a hand in some part of BACnet's creation. Of course, I would be the last person to argue that BACnet is perfect! To paraphrase Sir Winston Churchill, "BACnet is undoubtedly the worst protocol on the face of the earth - except for all the others!"
