What is the BACnet model? Consider three building automation and control devices, each with different functionality and/or from different manufacturers. The solid color portion of each symbol above is dedicated to the device's specific function within the building - HVAC, fire, life safety, whatever. The clear portion of each symbol is the part of the device dedicated to data communication. Each device "speaks" a different language indicated by the little circles, triangles, and squares "on the wire."
