The work cited above was delegated to a set of "working groups" that concentrated on separate pieces of the overall puzzle. Although some initially wanted to worry about the transport mechanisms, i.e., local area network technologies, the view prevailed that the first order of business was to figure out what BACnet devices would say to each other rather than how the messages would actually get from point "A" to point "B". Thus, development of a "model" for communicating was top priority.
