BACnet SHORT COURSES
|
Several organizations are currently offering BACnet training in the form of "short courses" ranging in duration from one-half to four days. For details on dates, location, and cost please contact the sponsoring organization. |
ASHRAE
|
ASHRAE offers, from time to time, an introductory course:
|
- An Introduction to BACnet. 3 Hours. Previously taught by David M. Fisher, PolarSoft, Inc., and founding member of SPC 135P. This course helps students understand some of the elements required to successfully plan for BACnet and some of the complex issues that must be addressed to achieve interoperability. Students learn that interoperability covers a wide range of possible options, and how to simplify interoperability by defining specific areas where interoperability is required. Also discussed are the basic components of any multi-vendor or multi-discipline BACnet control system, how different systems can be merged together using BACnet, and how BACnet facilitates the integration of older systems with BACnet-based systems. The course does not discuss specific manufacturers, or alternatives to BACnet or BACnet specification writing.

- DDC Open Systems: A Consumer's Guide to BACnet, LonWorks & Networking Standards. Taught by Ira Goldschmidt, RNL Design, Member of SSPC 135 and John McGowan, Johnson Controls. Here's the seminar that will help you sort out all of the new developments and practical issues associated with both purchase and specification of direct digital control (DDC) and open systems technologies. The program begins with a technical review of (DDC) and building automation systems, covering hardware, firmware and network systems, as well as the personal computer interface. You'll gain the practical knowledge essential to evaluate whether systems networking, communications and interface standards will actually improve your operations. You'll get the help you need to understand how protocols and network standards relate to open systems, as well as where existing products such as LonWorks and BACnet fit in. Topology, including both proprietary and standard based components-as well as gateway and router systems-are clearly explained. Issues crucial to effective specification of open systems, including connectivity of components, controls intergration, and interoperability are fully examined.

- SoftDEL BACnet Training Course SoftDEL offers structured BACnet training courses with optional custom-designed modules as per the participant’s need. These training courses are conducted either at the customer site or at SoftDEL premises. Courses range from a basic introduction to an in-depth understanding of advanced concepts.
SoftDEL's 3-day training course is designed for participants who are relatively new to BACnet. The 5-day training covers advanced concepts from an implementation perspective and is ideally suited for Software and QA professionals. SoftDEL provides a hands-on experience to all participants via a BACnet Simulator Tool, to help understand the concepts explained during the session.
The 3-day training begins with an introduction of the BACnet standard's architecture and then covers BACnet profiles, Objects, Services, Data Types and BIBBS, BACnet/IP and MS/TP devices, BBMD, Foreign device registration, Network Configuration, BACnet tools overview, debugging techniques, etc. The 5-day training course presents, in addition, the custom modules (as per participant’s need), and information on device testing and the certification process.
