BACnet is thriving and there are many good reasons for it. This slide and next summarize some of them. Of the reasons cited above, perhaps the most significant is the last: BACnet in no way is dependent on current technology. This means that as computers and networking continue to progress, as newer, faster, and cheaper microprocessors are created and network speeds increase, BACnet can make use of these advances. Contrast this to some of the other networking technologies that are in use today!
